Yuya Group
When a new Australian company wants to make an impact in the Asian market sometimes a cliche is the best solution and so it proved with Yuya Group. Yuya Group creates and commissions content for mobile devices, primarily comics, and the company logo needed to embody fun and futurism, and it had to appeal to consumers and telcos alike.
After sketching out loads and loads of typographic and symbolic options (as part of Small Studio's standard process for logo design), one type solution and an image of a koala were selected for refinement. Time was taken improving the type (the letter Y in particular was explored in depth), and adding more personality and depth to the koala character, and the Yuya Group logo was born.
"Logo development is always a challenge and requires a kind of bravery on the part of the design team to distill a company's whole intent to a visual representation. The design work we have had from the Small Studio crew always has this kind of courage as well as real cleverness and fluency that only comes from deeply talented people. They are very easy to work with and make it all look too easy.
We are still astounded at how quickly and succinctly Paul and Todd come to the Yuya Group logo, distilling the briefing from myself into a cogent and clever form that works on a number of levels and with our wide and disparate audiences.
We are continuing to work with Small Studio and aim to do so for as long as they will have us."
